New Moon's Werewolves!

They look more like Chippendales than werewolves, but this sexed-up first photo of the Native American wolf pack from the upcoming Twilight sequel, New Moon, is sure to send the hearts of the film's teen fan base aflutter. Taylor Lautner (not pictured, but bulking up, as seen on People.com) also returns as Jacob, vampire Edward's hairy rival for Bella's love. You'll be able to check out all of the pecs on the big screen starting November 20. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go do some crunches.

New Moon's Paul (Alex Meraz), Sam (Chaske Spencer),
Jared (Bronson Pelletier) and Embry (Kiowa Gordon).

New Moon Full Cast Revealed!

After months of waiting, hoping and speculating, the studio behind the "Twilight" saga has finally given millions of fans what they've been wanting: An official cast announcement for "New Moon." And as the currently filming sequel continues to roll cameras, Twilighters can look forward to a good mix of fresh-faced newcomers and familiar film veterans.

"New castmembers include the legendary Volturi, a venerable coven of vampires who weigh and impose the laws of the vampire world, as well as two new members of the Quileute Indian Nation," reads the press release posted Wednesday (April 15) on the Summit Entertainment site. "The Volturi include Charlie Bewley as Demetri, Jamie Campbell Bower as Caius, Daniel Cudmore as Felix, Christopher Heyerdahl as Marcus, all Volturi enforcers. Dakota Fanning plays Jane, a high-ranking and powerful Volturi member, and Cameron Bright is Alec, her brother. Noot Seear plays Volturi member Heidi. Michael Sheen plays Aro, the Volturi leader. Graham Greene appears as Harry Clearwater, Quileute tribal leader and old friend of Bella's father Charlie. Tinsel Korey is Emily, the fiancée of Sam Uley."

The announcement also confirms the return of several beloved castmembers from last year's hit film. "Rejoining the movie are Ashley Greene as Alice, Peter Facinelli as Carlisle, Elizabeth Reaser as Esme, Kellan Lutz as Emmett, Nikki Reed as Rosalie, Jackson Rathbone as Jasper , Edi Gathegi as Laurent and Rachelle Lafevre as Victoria."

Finally, the studio gives Twilighters a new synopsis of the eagerly anticipated flick: "In 'New Moon,' Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love Edward (Robert Pattinson). But her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). Suddenly, she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, ancestral enemies of the vampires, and she finds her loyalties tested."

The announcement comes as big news for Twilighters, even if the casting of Noot Seear, Jamie Campbell Bower, Michael Sheen and Dakota Fanning was already common knowledge among the fanbase. Other names like Graham Greene ("Transamerica," "Die Hard With a Vengeance") and Cameron Bright ("Birth," "X-Men: The Last Stand") are a bit more unexpected.

"New Moon" is currently filming on location in Vancouver, British Columbia, and Tuscany, Italy. The second film in the "Twilight" franchise is scheduled to hit theaters November 20.

Taylor wins the battle for Jacob's Role in New Moon!

Its finally official, Taylor Lautner will get to keep his job. Taylor will continue to play Jacob in New Moon, the next installment of the Twilight Series. He lobbied real hard and had to fight off several other actors that were trying to win the role. Lets hope he has been eating his wheaties and hitting the gym. He has alot of bulking up to do otherwise they may deduct CGI costs from his paycheck.

The news has been Confirmed by Stephenie Meyer herself in the following blog entry. Team Jacob-Taylor can finally sleep in peace!

Good news about New Moon from director Chris Weitz:

I’m very happy to announce that Taylor Lautner will be playing Jacob Black in New Moon and that he’s doing so with the enthusiastic support of Summit Entertainment, the producers, and Stephenie Meyer.

The characters in Stephenie’s books go through extraordinary changes of circumstance and also appearance; so it is not surprising that there has been speculation about whether the same actor would portray a character who changes in so many surprising ways throughout the series. But it was my first instinct that Taylor was, is, and should be Jacob, and that the books would be best served by the actor who is emotionally right for the part. I think that fans of Twilight the book and the movie will be surprised by the Jacob Black that Taylor will bring to the screen in New Moon; and I’m looking forward to working with him and the rest of the cast in realizing the film.

very best

Chris Weitz

I’d just like to add that I was very much a part of this decision. My first priority was always what was best for New Moon—what was going to give us the best possible movie. I’m truly thrilled that Taylor was the one who proved to the director, to Summit, and to me that he is the best possible Jacob we could have. And I’m very much looking forward to seeing what he’s going to bring to Jacob’s character this year.

New Moon Cast

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are all set to reprise their roles as Bella and Edward, but the latest buzz is that Taylor Lautner may not return as Jacob. Apperantly the new director, Chris Weitz wants a more physically mature Jacob. Although 16 year old Taylor Lautner has been pushing for a return, he has yet to be given the green light. Just recently MTV has reported that Michael Copon, 26 is already in talks to take over the highly sought after role of Jacob.

Summary

Protagonist Isabella "Bella" Swan is thrown an eighteenth birthday party by Alice and Edward Cullen, the vampire she loves, and his family. While unwrapping a gift, she gets a paper cut. Edward's brother, Jasper, is overwhelmed by her blood's scent and tries to attack Bella. To keep her safe from vampires, Edward breaks up with Bella and he and his family leave Forks, Washington. Bella becomes severely depressed and seeks comfort with Jacob Black, a cheerful friend who eases her pain over losing Edward.

Bella and Jacob develop a close friendship, and Bella soon realizes that thrill-seeking activities, such as riding a motorcycle, help her to remember Edward more clearly. Meanwhile, Bella learns that Jacob is a werewolf. He and his fellow werewolves begin to protect Bella from the vampire Victoria, who seeks revenge for her mate, James, whom the Cullens killed in Twilight.

Meanwhile, a series of miscommunications leads Edward to believe that Bella has died. Distraught over her supposed death, Edward flees to Italy to provoke the Volturi, peace-keeping vampires who would be able to kill him. Bella and his sister, Alice, rush to Italy to save Edward, and arrive just in time to stop him. Before they leave Italy, the Volturi tell them that Bella, a human who knows of the existence of vampires, must either be killed or changed into a vampire. After they return to Forks, Edward explains to Bella that he only left to protect her, and she forgives him. The book ends with the Cullens voting in favor of Bella being transformed into a vampire after her graduation, much to Edward's dismay.
